Rajasthan Royals did not have the best of seasons in IPL 2025, as the team finished among the lower half of the points table. Looking forward to boosting their chances in the next IPL season, they are looking forward to revisiting their squad.
Last year veteran player and coach Rahul Dravid took over the role as RR coach and showed immense faith in young and experienced Indian players and did not pick anyone else other than Shimron Hetmyer among overseas batters.
Though the Royals produced an exceptional prodigy in Vaibhav Suryavanshi, marked by stunning performances from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, they lacked the depth needed for a T20 side, as they fell short of wins by very close margins.

This time as per reports, a total of 6 players have been receiving immense interest from other IPL franchises with trade offers being made. Though nothing has been made official from their end, the longtime skipper and wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson might be in high demand for the upcoming season.
With a similar profile of wicket-keeper destructive right-handed batter Dhruv Jurel has also emerged as a potent option for teams like Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, who would be seeking dependable players for the role.
IPL franchise eyeing a Sanju Samson swap? Dhruv Jurel is also a potent target
The IPL trading window opened on the 4th of June and will remain open until a week before the player’s auction date in 2026.
It includes swapping of players in various roles, like players swapping at the same price, swapping players where the franchise with the higher-paid player receives the remaining amount, or an all-cash deal where a player is sold to increase their purse, citing the auction.
Sanju Samson has had notable success with the Rajasthan Royals, also seeing them off to the final of IPL 2022, which they lost to the Gujarat Titans.
However, with the aging of CSK veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni and KKR not trusting their current wicket-keepers Quinton De Kock or Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the value of Sanju Samson has increased multiple times.
Dhruv Jurel can also be swapped in if the Royals management does not look to leave Samson, citing his brilliance for the team. With Riyan Parag taking over, Sanju has been seen in a limited role as a skipper.
Dhruv Jurel’s performance in IPL 2025 – A roller-coaster season
Dhruv Jurel made his debut in the IPL playing for the Rajasthan Royals back in IPL 2023. As the Royals are known for handing opportunities to youngsters, the wicket-keeper batter played a full season despite the presence of Sanju Samson in the 11.
With not much batting role down the order, especially due to the presence of Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Samaon at the top, Jurel didn’t have the best of seasons in 2023 and 2024.
However, this was the first time around, and Jurel was handed some crucial batting role as he ended up scoring 333 runs in the season with an average of 37 and a strike rate of 156.34. However, there has been one major drawback in his ability to finish the game, since, despite his presence alongside Shimron Hetmyer, the Royals lost several close matches that otherwise looked like a definitive win.
Dhruv Jurel is currently in England for the Test tour
India is currently on their tour to England for a five-match test series, as this marks the inaugural season of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy after a change of its name from the Pataudi Trophy.
Dhruv Jurel was last seen in the matches played between India A and England Lions, citing practice games before the onset of the series. He played a crucial role with the bat and has also been included in the Indian squad that will take on England for the 5 tests.
Though Jurel is yet to play a game for India in this WTC, he has been named and is expected to make an impact anytime he is handed a position in the side.
